Student Art Spaces-Minnesota
In May 2020, SAS Minnesota launched its first project: a digital exhibition to showcase artists around the world. Due to the pandemic at the time, visiting art museums in person was not possible; therefore, we hosted a digital art gallery that allows people to experience art and engage with each other at a distance. Our team received well over 30 submissions, and a total of 16 artists were chosen to be featured on our Instagram page.
Artists 4 BLM
In June 2020, SAS Minnesota launched the Artists4BLM project in response to the death of George Floyd. The project aimed to give artists a platform to support the Black Lives Matter movement by collaborating with artists to create BLM-related products. All proceeds from the sales of these products were then donated to NAACP Legal Defense and the Center for Black Equity. In the first week, SAS Minnesota made over 50 sales and had over 20 artists help contribute to the cause.
Meet The Team
I’m a 16 year old visual artist. Art is my outlet from the craziness in my world and is how I express myself. I enjoy pushing myself to try new things by experimenting with different mediums, colors, and textures. As the leader of SAS Minnesota, I aim to encourage the passion for art and inspire the youth in my community to have their voices be heard in the art world.
Lead Event & Fundraising Manager
I'm a 16 years old artist, and I have loved to make art ever since I could remember. I mainly work with watercolor and digital art, but I also experiment with other mediums. I also enjoy listening to and playing music. I hope that by being part of Student Art Spaces, I can help the youth show their artistry to everyone in the world.
Lead Social Media & Outreach Manager
I’m 15 years old, and I am an artist mainly based in the performing arts category. I do photography, dance, theatre tech acting, and music with both instruments and vocals. I’m a pretty outgoing person, as I love working with people. I wish to bring out the hidden voices of underlooked artists by being a part of Student Art Spaces.
Lead Financial Manager & Lead Graphic Designer
I’m 15 years old. I am a freelance artist and illustrator that enjoys experimenting with different mediums (both traditional and digital) in order to express various ideas and themes. As a member of Student Art Spaces Minnesota, I hope to use my abilities and experience to help artists receive more recognition for their talents.
